Distributors are doing incredible work in challenging markets…

Suppliers are doing incredible work matching Distributor efforts…

It’s time to expect ANY company/program/organization that sits between a distributor and supplier — making their money off of your work — to step up and DO BETTER for YOU than getting more for themselves.

A homeowner… Builder… Realtors would never accept a Black & Decker Power Tools representative showing up to claim credit and financial reward (from each party) for the house being sold. The sheer idea of this proposition is ridiculous… and yet… In our Industry, we have made it a standard of operations.

The tools and resources you use… The groups and programs you pay to be a part of… Are all battling it out to be recognized as the reason why YOU are successful — and then claiming a cut off of the back of everyone else’s work (sometimes a cut from the Distributor… Sometimes a cut from the Supplier… Often a cut from BOTH).  

For as much as PromoEQP has successfully attacked this systematic abusiveness AND recognized that YOU are your own competitive advantage, the behavior nevertheless persists. The reasoning for it persisting is easy: Bigger Companies would prefer to pay the money to get rid of Small Companies than go through the effort of getting better at their jobs.

The difference between NOW and 2012 (when PromoEQP launched) is that YOU can be seen and heard… as long as YOU choose to show up and speak!… When YOU make yourself known, the entire system is forced to acknowledge YOU!  — And those who are going out of their way to ignore you) are demonstrating EXACTLY who they are and how they’re running their businesses.

The time is NOW to DEMAND BETTER… You deserve to demand better. Stop being sold with a pitch that feeds on your fears and belittles your successes, and start demanding the resources and tools that will support Your drive to build a successful business.

YOU have made PromoEQP relevant in a market that did not want PromoEQP to be relevant… And I commit that PromoEQP will ALWAYS be a resource that amplifies YOUR voice and demands that YOUR needs are met.

All I ask is that YOU don’t be a stranger. CHOOSE to be seen and heard.

PromoEQP gets stronger when We hear from YOU… And, trust me, the entire Promo Industry will get better when YOU make yourself heard.

I’ve been saying this for years: “PromoEQP’s job is to be on the sentry post, paying attention to what is happening on the horizon.”... The problem with that scenario is that if you’re only looking out and away, then you’re going to miss it when the Goths are attacking the gates! 

This is what makes it imperative for a program like PromoEQP to be forever touching base and seeking guidance from the Distributor. You are the one on the ground who experiences the challenges in real-time. Without You, I am pointless – because there is no industry to protect if you aren’t there protecting it.

I’m saying this because what I’m seeing coming in 2025 will require a lot of coordinated discussion -- and each of us being at our best.

In a normal year, companies like to speak in code over their plans… In 2025, there are no secrets. This will be the year that technology begins to move more aggressively into the marketplace AND your distributorship.

Do YOUR Job

One of my favorite movies, “Interstellar” has a quote that shaped how I look at what I do for my job, daily, to successfully complete my goals. The quote is, “Don’t trust the right thing done for the wrong reason. The ‘why’ of a thing – that’s the foundation.” Sometimes I switch the order of the words “Right” and “Wrong” just to confirm that the power will always rest in the ‘Why’.

In our daily jobs, we are sometimes asked (or told by others) to look outside of what we are supposed to be doing. It’s a powerful tool to see and be a part of the whole picture, but focusing on being best at your tasks in the micro can have a huge impact on the macro.

… and it’s only partially because I’m still obsessing over the Summer Olympics.


The simple fact is that we haven’t been doing uniforms correctly… Let me walk that back a bit. Distributors engaged in the sales of uniforms have done a square job of positioning this item as the current standard sees fit. The problem is that the current standard that buyers have been operating under is changing right in front of our eyes.

Based on the trends that are appearing in the larger marketplace… If you aren’t presenting a uniform that dresses Head-to-(LITERAL) Toe, then you aren’t presenting the full uniform.

There has always been a discussion over putting out a podcast. The question we faced was: Does PromoEQP do this “in-house”, OR do we identify a respected industry voice that has something powerful to say — that’s on brand with PromoEQP’s mission?

The problem with doing a podcast in-house, is that after the 4th or 5th episode, most everyone would realize that I’m really just a broken record. Seriously, I’m essentially ALWAYS saying some deviation of the same thing:
